Wow… what an awesome wedding. Janel contacted us a long time ago while in England and booked us to photograph her wedding. It was held at Madsen’s in Newmarket and it was such a cool location to use. Janel + Eric are wonderful people and it was a pleasure to hang out with them all day. Everyone in the wedding party was so nice and helpful and very much appreciated.
Here is some shots through the day. The bride and groom both got ready at the same hotel which is awesome and easy to capture both getting ready since they are only a floor away.

A few weeks ago, clients Erica and Paul exchanged their vows in the beautiful East Coast, during an outdoor ceremony on the rooftop of the Fairmont Algonquin in St. Andrews by-the-sea. Being disappointed in the service she received when ordering her wedding invitations months earlier, Erica contacted Momento Design to create all the stationery she needed for her wedding day (which she was planning from miles away).
She requested that the design of each piece reflect the look of her invitations — so we chose paper colours and type styles that would coordinate flawlessly.
Fan programs were handed out as guests took their seats — offering a glimpse of coming events and a way to keep cool under the bright sun. Table numbers, menus and thank you tags completed the look. And having everything ready days before deadline allowed this excited couple to leave for the East Coast ahead of schedule — which made them very happy!

Blue Six Creative would like to announce a promotion that was really fun to do last year. We are working on the details of the days we are planning for this fall that will start in September.
Some of you might want to use this shoot as an outdoor back to school theme… as well as get some family shots completed so you can make some neat things in time for Christmas and mailings to family & friends.

What: Blue Six Creative will be offering discounted outdoor photo shoots that are reduced from our normal rate of $200. We are looking for fun families everywhere that are looking for a photo shoot that will give them great pictures after. We would like to do group shots that are natural and different and also focus on individual portraits of everyone. The rate this year will be $100 for the photo-shoot.
Where will it be held? The shoots will be held in the Rouge Park that is in the Rouge Valley in Pickering. Same as last year. We can give you directions and a map to get there to find us.
After, you will get all the images on a CD/DVD that will be touched up, unmarked and high-resolution that you can print and share. Selected images will also be uploaded into our client galleries for you to share with everyone.
Who are the photographers? Dan, Adrian & Doug will be coming out to photograph the families. And we will announce the other photographers this week who will also be participating in the shoots.
How can I help spread the word? Wow, could you? If you know any other people that would like this sort of photoshoot, please tell them to hit our Facebook Fan Page using the link on our website and have them send us a email so we can put them on a short list. We are going to go “bazooka-joe” on everyone we know and fill up all the spots. If you spread the word by pasting the link to this post and dropping it in Facebook or Twitter. Please email us and we would love to do something nice for you.

EXTRA Bonus: Since Mom’s think about these kinds of things and Dad’s think about sports… if anyone sends an old fashioned email to all the Mom’s they know and those people forward the email to us and tell us they are interested (and we can see who sent it to them the “old fashioned way” then that person will get $10 off. (Since we love referrals) and the person who sent it will get $10 off (until their shoot is free for each person that books a session and we can see the email referral.)
What happens if it rains? We will have lots of back-up dates and we are starting early because of this.

This week, we booked an awesome couple – Nicole and Andrew. This is one of those times where it would be nice to have a fast forward button, so that I could shoot their wedding TOMORROW. Unfortunately, we are going to have to wait about 11 months….but I am so stoked.
We have had so many awesome weddings this year, that this sort of feels like January. It’s a couple weeks after Christmas, and all we can do is look forward to the next one – and be excited.
Nicole and Andrew are awesome. During our initial consultation, I decided to take a few snaps of them as well. We were at a cool location down at the waterfront in Ajax – and just walked, talked and shot. It was a nice change of pace from “Let’s meet at Starbucks”. From the get go, it was like I had already known them…
Anyway – here is a couple quick shots from the evening. I am looking forward to heading down to McMaster University in the next few weeks to shoot their engagement session at their Alma mater!
Check back in a year for their wedding shots too – I predict it is going to be something you don’t want to miss.

Hi Everyone,
You get what you pay for at the dollar store and discount warehouses, it is the same when shopping for DJʼs and Entertainment. There are DJʼs, Bands and Entertainment companies out there that are undercutting the standard rates by a long shot and the general public seems to think they will be able to get the same quality of service for a much less price. The standard rates for a Professional DJ in the Greater Toronto and Southern Ontario region will vary between $850 – $1500 for basic packages. The prices for bands vary even more than this depending on the size of the band and their demand, generally a good, professional 4 or 5 piece band will cost between $2000 – $4000 for the night, larger bands can vary from $4000 – $8000 for the night. You have to wonder what people expect from a DJ that is saying they can do your wedding for $300 – $400.
In addition to this, many wedding reception facilities are offering “All Inclusive” reception packages which include the Hall, Catering, Decor, DJ, Photographer and other services depending on the package and venue. With these “All Inclusive” venues and packages, in a lot of cases you do not have a choice in who your DJ or Photographer might be and sometimes may not even have the chance to meet your DJ until you enter the reception hall! Itʼs unbelievable how many people donʼt even think about this, they just say yes and sign the paper because it sounds easy. Having a good DJ or Entertainment that suits your style and what you want is key to making your reception a success and memorable event, just letting the entertainment into someone elseʼs hands without having a choice can be a drastic decision. On the same token, many venues will have a preferred vendor list that they can provide you the contact information for several preferred DJʼs, Bands, Photographers, Videographers, Decor, Cakes, etc. that they have worked with in the past and recommend their services as they have provided a superior service as compared to other service providers who may have been at their venue before. These preferred vendors lists are a good idea to check out as the venue feels they are worth while looking at and you have the final decision as to which provider you would like to work with.
What should you expect from a professional DJ or Live Entertainment?
- Clean and neat in appearance, dressed professionally – typically dark suit.
- Professional Equipment in good working order setup prior to guest arrival.
- Tidy Setups with no flashy signage, cables taped down, etc.
- Professional attitude, presentation and interaction with guests.
- Show up on time, on site dedicated to your event the full length of event or contract.
- Wide range of high quality, licensed music available at your wedding.
- DJ Skills including beat-mixing, how to read a crowd, volume control, etc.
What you may encounter with Discount Entertainment…
- DJ or Entertainment wearing Jeans, Poloʼs, T-Shirt.
- Equipment that is out of date, not working properly, not neat in appearance.
- Messy Setups, Orange Cables, Promotional Signage (sometimes neon signs)
- Non-Professional attitude, presentation and interaction with guest.
- Showing up late, or worst case scenario not at all!
- Limited music library (DJ may only have Hip Hop & Reggae with limited other genres)
- Poor quality music (ex. poor quality downloaded versions of songs)
