Shooting in the winter is more about the scarfs, the coats, the funky wool hats and mitts.

It’s also about snow ball fights!

It’s only funny when you see two people in love get out some anger!

Anger leads to making up.

If you find a cool spot that has some open fields as well as some shelter within the trees.  It’s really not that cold to shoot.  Walk in the snow for a bit and you will be toasty inside.

Also, it does not have to be in the countryside.  It could be downtown Toronto.  Ice Skating under the lights of Nathan Phillips Square or walking around the city as a couple and then popping into a cafe to enjoy a coffee…

What’s really cool with shooting winter shots is that you can follow up in the spring with another session.  Then when your wedding date comes you can have some images of you two as a couple through out the year.  Like we did for this couple seen above and below.

Shooting engagements in the winter is fun and some brides are dying for the snow to fall so they can call their photographer and get some shots done.   We are the same.  With that being said, we have a promo on right now for anyone wanting to do some.

What: Blue Six Creative will be offering discounted outdoor photo shoots that are reduced from our normal rate of $200.  We are looking for fun families everywhere that are looking for a photo shoot that will give them great pictures after.  We would like to do group shots that are natural and different and also focus on individual portraits of everyone.  The rate this year will be $100 for the photo-shoot.

Where will it be held? The shoots will be held in the Rouge Park that is in the Rouge Valley in Pickering.  Same as last year.  We can give you directions and a map to get there to find us.

After, you will get all the images on a CD/DVD that will be touched up, unmarked and high-resolution that you can print and share.  Selected images will also be uploaded into our client galleries for you to share with everyone.

Who are the photographers? Dan, Adrian & Doug will be coming out to photograph the families.  And we will announce the other photographers this week who will also be participating in the shoots.

How can I help spread the word? Wow, could you? If you know any other people that would like this sort of photoshoot, please tell them to hit our Facebook Fan Page using the link on our website and have them send us a email so we can put them on a short list.  We are going to go “bazooka-joe” on everyone we know and fill up all the spots.  If you spread the word by pasting the link to this post and dropping it in Facebook or Twitter.  Please email us and we would love to do something nice for you.

We have a list of people that we have collected and we would love to photograph.  We have 3 spots on June 12th (11am, 12:30pm and 2pm) for shoots downtown Toronto with Nicole and on June 19th (10am, 11:30pm, 1pm and 2:30pm) Nicole will be shooting these also.  The location is be close to the downtown core or on the outside of it.  We just sent out a whack of messages through Facebook to get them filled up.  If you are interested, please send us a email.

We will announce more dates and locations next week… for shooting with Nicole in Toronto as well as open up some dates and times for Durham Region  since we still want to get out in the countryside and shoot with Doug and some of the other Blue Six Creative photographers will also be shooting these.

Here is a quick question and answer about the Facebook Fan Page Contest:

Question: You say it’s random on who wins, how do we know you are not picking someone that you know to win the weekly prizes.  How do you really make it random?

Answer: Great question.  When we click on the Fans link inside the page, we see (in order) the people who became a fan of ours and which order they became a fan.  We can see that I (Jason Miles) is #1 and Kristin Peres is #2 and Broderick Forehand is #3 and Jessica De La Rosa is #4 and up.  Since the number of fans is under 1000 people, we will use OLG’s Pick 3 Lotto that is held daily.  We will use  every Saturday’s Pick 3 numbers that are available online.  So if the winning number is 763 (and we have under 100 Fans, the winner will be person #63 that became a fan.  If we have 280 Fans, then #63, #163 and #263 will qualify and the winner of the 3 people will be the person who has the closest birthday to the draw date.

Question: What happens if a wedding professional is the winner?  Are they eligible?

Answer: The only person who can’t win is me (Jason Miles) and any other Blue Six Creative photographers or assistants.  Everyone else is eligible.  So anyone can transfer this prize to someone else if they don’t want to use it.  So the wedding professional could use it or even give it to a past/present client to use.

Question: If I win a free “Trash The Dress” photo shoot, when can I book you to shoot it?  Can I pick where we can shoot the session?

Answer: We are going to announce a schedule of days for the entire year that all eligible winners can select book the session on that predetermined day, time and location.  We are going to pick some cool locations that have a certain theme or backdrop.  Dates and locations will be posted in the blog-post comments.  All the locations will be in or near Toronto and in the GTA.  You have to use your certificate within a year of winning it.  It can’t be substituted for cash.  There is no cash value of this certificate.  It can be transferred to someone else and they should contact us right away to book a session.

Question: If I win a photo shoot, what am I really getting?

Answer: You are getting a 1 hour photo shoot with a Blue Six Creative Photographer at a predetermined location.  You wll get a disk of a selected amount of images from the shoot that are edited and presented to you in high resolution and unmarked digital files that you can share, print and use at your leisure.

Question: What happen if I win and I’m a Fan of yours but I live in a different province or country than Ontario, Canada.  What happens?

Answer: You can transfer it to another member of the Fan Page or you can simply decline it if you won’t be traveling to Ontario within the year.  It can’t be redeemed for any cash value.

Question:  Can I use the “Suggest To Friends” Tab and recommend to my friends to become Fans so they also have a chance to win some photo shoots?  (people in general that need some awesome pictures of them as a family or couple.  Even if they are already married?

Answer: Hell yes!  That would be awesome that you would do that!
