Some of the best moments at weddings in our eyes are the “moments”  that are caught without the Bride & Groom knowing you are about to photograph them and also the intimate moments you capture.  Since we are there with them the entire day and have a better understanding on the connection and love each of them have towards each other shows through in the pictures when we look at them after.

Here is some of those moments between two people.  It can be a kiss, the moment before the kiss, how they are looking at each other, their emotion and feeling towards the other person through how they look and touch each other.

(Above: Love the exchange of the three pictures between them.  During a private boat tour I asked the couple if they wanted to go out on the deck and take some pictures.   I allowed them some time to catch up with each other and talk about their wedding day.  The three shots were after a small exchange of words between them.

(Above):  Love these two shots of them kissing on the dance floor.  No flash was used to help capture the movement of the guests dancing.

This couple wanted to see each other before the ceremony so he want to see her in a room and just walked up to her and the hugged. (They didn't want the mother of the bride to know he seen her)

We let them sit up there and reflect a bit on the day and captured this moment between them...

The cake!  It’s also fun to try and shoot it in different ways to show the detail in it.  We take the standard cake shot, but sometimes it’s the close shots that fill your tummy!

First dances are fun to shoot pictures.  We tend to shoot some different kinds of shots and play with flash to give different moods.  Some couples spin circles just talking and reflecting and some are super close just holding and feeling each other through their clothes.

Speeches are also fun to capture.  We want to shoot the interaction between the speaker and the audience from different angles.  You want to show the Bride & Groom soaking in what is said and how they react with a tear or laughter or embarrassment.  We have heard the most incredible speeches and stories… we sometimes we wish had it recorded to share.

When photographing engagements between two people, we find a comfort with being with them as they spend time together as a couple.  The engagement shots we like to take is two people going for a walk, holding hands, laughing, hugging and focusing on each other.  Having an engagement photo shoot done is very important.  It gets you in front of the camera and you can see how you are with each other.  Most importantly, it gives you pictures of how you are and how you feel towards each other.

If you walk around with a photographer and you take 100 pictures.  If you find one pictures you absolutely love… spending that hour together was totally worth it.

(Trust me… you will have way more pictures that you like than 1 shot… but 10 years from now… you will remember that day… remember how you are and used to be together and will cherish those moments to look back on.)

Here is a selection of pictures that represents the pictures that we like to take.  Some of them are hands and taken from a different point of view…. but these shots are special.  I can’t describe it.   Anyways… enjoy the selection we have below and we will add to it and bring this post back up to the top to show the new people hitting the blog at our photography and style.

At weddings, we love when it’s time to watch the bride and groom have their first dance.  We wonder what song they will choose.  We wonder what that song means to them.  What story it has behind it.  How will the words of the song go.

And more importantly, how will they dance together.  Will then share moments from the day between them?  Will they just concentrate on the moment and feel the connection with each other?  How will the guests react when they watch them?

We love shooting them.  Each one is different and unique.  Here is some shots we have captured.  We will add more to this blog post and now and then… bring it back up to the top of the blog to show you.

Every bride picks her shoes for the look, feel and comfort.  Some shoes last for the ceremony and are then replaced with the most comfortable shoe there is.

Holding Hands

“Holding Hands” (Above): When shooting engagement photos in High Park in Toronto of this couple from farther away of them standing and holding hands.  We noticed the unique way they were holding each others hands.  So by getting close and shooting at “belt level” we photographed their hands together.  That is the neat thing about this job, is you see other pictures inside other pictures and stop the couple to photograph them.  This is personally one of my fav’s on shooting pictures of hands.   This would be a killer shot blown up on a canvas gallery wrap.

“Birds Looking Down” (Above): Here is another shot of this couple in High Park.  After shooting them in front of a cool tree and some shots up close, we decided it would be interesting to climb up the tree and shoot them looking down.

Blind Teasing

“Blind Teasing” (Above): Another shot of the couple while up in the tree as they stand below and hold each other close.  We love it when two people stand and are quiet and get close and focus on each other as we hover and photograph them from unique points of view.

A tip we tell our couples is to close their eyes and get close and tease each other with their noses as if they are going to kiss them… but one of them backs away.  This tease is awesome to photograph, since the couple will usually be relaxed and into each other and they usually will start to slightly smile as they do this (as you will see in the picture below).

“Tease with the Nose” (Above): Is what we highlighted above and when you do this we like to take close up shots from each side to capture the moment between them.

“Light From Behind” (Above Two Shots): The shots above of the couple doing their first dance is lit up by our photographers flash on a tripod behind the Bride & Groom as they dance to give a more intimate approach and a different point of view.

There is so many shots that we want to add and a story behind the scenes on why we like to shoot them or how we shoot them.  We will add to this post with more pictures shortly…

Here is some pictures of Brides & Grooms getting ready from multiple weddings.

(Above) Is a Mother of the Bride who is getting some make-up put on.  (Below) is what is in her hands.  This was the 2nd shot showing her “To Do” list of what is needed to be done before the ceremony.   It’s those little things when put together tell a story.
