Tell us how you two started dating?
Through a mutual friend, we first met at a punk rock show! We chatted for a few minutes and that was that. But a few weeks later we saw each other again (at yet another punk rock show!) and, this time, we hit it off right away. We made plans to get together for New Year’s Eve, which was super fun – despite Chris’ car breaking down and him not making it to the party until 1130pm! Round 1 of dating lasted about a month, when we decided to go our own ways. But, of course, we couldn’t stay away from each other and rekindled the romance a few months later – all thanks to a trip to Montreal. Round 2 has lasted 5 1/2 years so far and here we are…
Tell us how you got engaged?
Let’s just start on Dec 2 – the day before the engagement (and my birthday – my favourite day of the year). Chris has been waiting for the ring to come by Fed Ex for 6 weeks! He got to work that day to find a FedEx slip left on the door 4 minutes before he arrived saying, “We just missed you. We’ll try again tomorrow”. Wanting to pop the question at midnight, he spent 1 1/2 hours trying to get FedEx to re-deliver the package and, finally, 6 hours later they showed up. That night, we went over to a friend’s house for some drinks and, at midnight, we celebrated with ‘homemade’ birthday cupcakes. I thought that was it for the night, but when we got home, Chris went to get his hidden birthday gift (from the trunk of the car). I had no idea what was going on when I opened the homemade scrapbook I had started all the way back in Round 1 (which I hadn’t seen in years and thought was lost forever!). Chris had added some really special pictures and stories and on the last page put “The beginning of Round 3″ and, in a little envelope marked “Will you be my punk rock princess?”, was the beautiful ring! I pretty much shrieked around the house for a couple hours, calling a few friends and my mom. Totally unexpected and totally perfect! Best birthday ever!
Tell us a little on how you would like to have your wedding and your vision of it?
Ever since we visited the Steam Whistle brewery for a tour a couple summers ago, we’ve dreamed of having our wedding there. We fell in love with the beautiful room, the view of the Toronto skyline, the history. It totally suits our personalities to be married at a place where they make beer! But really, for us, it comes down to hosting a great party where everyone we love most will come together to celebrate our love for each other. Good food, good people and lots of love – for us, that would be the perfect wedding.
